Obituary For Bertha Mae Dewberry

( June 9, 1943 -July 23, 2022 ) FORT WORTH -- The Celebration of Life honoring Bertha Mae (Paul) Dewberry, 79, Fort Worth formerly of Athens, TX will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11AM, at the Living for the Brand Cowboy Church with Pastor J. L. Williams serving as the officiant, and Pastor Johnny Taylor serving as eulogist. Mrs. Dewberry shall rest at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Frankston, TX under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Co.

Bertha was born June 9, 1943 in LaRue, TX to the late George and Corine Paul. She received her education at Central High School—Moore Station community. At an early age, she joined the Rock Hill Baptist Church where she continued her membership until her demise. Serving in many capacities, Bertha sang in the choir, was a member of the kitchen committee, and was a deaconess. For some twenty plus years she was employed with both Curtis Mathis and Harvey Industries.

“Bert” as she was affectionately known met and married the late Robert Louis Dewberry, Sr. and to this union four children were born: one son, the late Robert Louis Dewberry, Jr. and three daughters, Bertha R., Ester F., and Cassandra Y. She was a wonderful cook, loved cooking, and loved feeding those of the community.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022, shortly after the ninth hour of morning, God dispatched his angels to the home of Ester and at the bedside of Bertha. “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto them also that love his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 6-8, KJV Awaiting the arrival of Bertha include her husband, Robert Louis Dewberry, Sr. and son Robert Jr.; grandson, Eric Basher; parents, George and Corine Paul; siblings, Jerry Paul, Billy J. Paul, Ira Paul, and Betty J. Williams; sister- in- love, Alice Paul.

Bertha’s memories will forever be embedded in the heart of her children, Bertha R. (Ira) McCorvey of Mesquite, Texas, Ester F. Dewberry and Cassandra Y. Dewberry both of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Randall (Monique) of Ennis, Micah (Santrice), Robyn and Unshella Dewberry all of Athens, Texas; eleven great- grandchildren; Precious memories shall linger in the lives of her siblings, George Paul of DeSoto, Texas, James Paul of LaRue, Texas, Freddie (Wanda) Paul of Athens, Charles Paul of Wills Point, Texas, Delois Thompson of Seven Points, Texas, Barbara (Bill) Young of LaRue, Texas and Oleta Baker of Tyler, Texas; she leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Public viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday, January 29, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
