Today we celebrate the life of a precious soul, Annie J. Swain McGhee. Annie was born on July 7, 1929, to the parentage of Wesley and Ora Swain in Talladega, Alabama of whom preceded her in death. Additionally, preceding her in death was her husband, Samuel McGhee; four sisters, Thelma Lynch, Luella Higgins, Mandy Swain and Elizabeth Higgins; and two brothers, Howard Swain and Duke Swain. Annie departed this life on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois.

Annie accepted Christ at an early age and later became a member of Mt. Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Talladega, Alabama.

In 1946, Annie married Samuel L. McGhee and moved to Chicago, Illinois to start a new life together. To this union four children were born. She was employed by an electronics company called Hallicrafter. After working there for some years, she decided to leave and start working for Westinghouse Electric where she eventually retired.

Annie, also known as Gooch, was a kind, generous and loving person. she enjoyed dressing in fashionable attire. Her favorite past time was spending time with her grandchildren, traveling, and going to the casino. She was loved by so many.

She leaves to cherish her many memories: four children, Ann "Jo" (Willie) Jarvis of South Holland, Illinois, Betty "Jean" Watkins of Bellwood, Illinois, Samuel "Sparkle" (Joyce) McGhee, Jr. of Maywood, Illinois and Denise "Nisie" McGhee of Atlanta, Georgia.

Annie will forever be missed by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Annie is now at peace and resting in the arms of the Lord, but her memory will always live on in our hearts. Rest Well!
