Ongela Anetra Smith was born July 28, 1974 in Pahokee, Florida to Charlie B. Smith and Victoria Smith. Ongela began her Christian Education as a child attending the St. James A.M.E. Church. Later the family joined the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she would continue to serve. When she moved her family to West Palm Beach, FL she joined Christ Fellowship. Ongela received her formal education at the school district of Palm Beach County. She graduated from Pahokee High School in the Class of 1992. Her post-secondary education includes several professional certifications. She earned her bachelor’s in education degree at Florida Atlantic University in 2005. She was employed as a teacher for 15 years. Ongela will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother. She enjoyed spending time with family and dancing. Ongela transitioned to life everlasting on July 24. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gerilyn Jones (Cordele, GA), and grandparents, Ora Mae Smith, Booker T. Smith and Oscar Road Whorpe. Fond memories of Ongela will be cherished her parents Charlie B. and Victoria Smith; five loving children, Carmilla Bourdear (Alain), Tobie Osborne, Taliyah Maiden, Zykiria Finnegan (Ian) and Deangelo Maiden; three siblings, Charneque Smith (West Palm Beach), Labertha Smith (Tallahassee) and Patricia Woodson (Cordele GA); six grandchildren, Daylen Hill, Prince Bourdeau, Nola Bourdeau, Noah Osborne, Blaze Tyson and Kimberly Finnegan; Grandmother: Doris W. Lynn (West Palm Beach, FL),; Aunts, Bernetta Willis (Pahokee) and Barbara Whorpe (WPB); God parents, Gloria and Ulysses Boldin Jr.; special friends, Lafara Williams, Sandra Moore, Libra Icon and Tiffany Wicks. She also leaves a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
