Obituary For Secunda Huff Horton

Mrs. Secunda Huff Horton, 94 of Gadsden, departed this life on Friday, July 29, 2022.

Mrs. Secunda Horton was born in Munford, AL, on October 18, 1927.

In early childhood, she joined Hall Grove Church in Munford and later upon moving to Gadsden, AL., she united with the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She served in capacities as secretary of the Sunday School, secretary of the usher board, and she taught the Sunday School Beginners Class. She attended Central and Carver High Schools in Gadsden in 1945. She later obtained her GED and earned one of the highest scores that had been obtained on the test at that time. The Governor of Alabama at that time congratulated her on her achievement.

On Friday, July 29, 2022, she slipped away to meet our Lord.

Those left to cherish her precious memories include two daughters, Cynthia Elaine Horton of Huntsville, AL, and Paula Horton of Toledo, Ohio; two sons, Kenneth W. Horton of Gadsden, and Leonard M Horton (Tammy) of Las Vegas, NV; one granddaughter, Tamika (Chris) Lamneck; three great-granddaughters; Addison, Sophia, and Hadley Lamneck, all of Houston, TX; adopted son-in-law, McKinley Bailey Jr., of Spring Grove, VA; sons, Merle Bailey of Birmingham, AL, and the late Michael Bailey; chosen sons, Anthony Keith (Lisha) and John Crook; extended family, Willie Daniel (Nerva), Annie Pearl Garrett, Fred Walker, Mary Malone, and Beatrice Weston; and numerous cousins and other faithful relatives and friends.
