Obituary For Mr. Harold Vernon Jones, Sr.

Augusta, Georgia-Mr. Harold Vernon Jones, Sr. entered into rest Sunday, July 31, 2022.

Harold Vernon Jones Sr was born to Janie and Willie Jones at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his sole sibling, Earline Jones Coleman. He attended Charles T. Walker Elementary School and graduated from Lucy C. Laney High School. After graduation, he joined the military. He served in the United States Army for three years but later joined the United States Air Force where he retired after twenty-one years of service. Harold loved football, history, and discussing political issues. In fact, after retirement, he was constantly saying, “I’m going back home, and I’m going to get into politics”. We all know that he did not get into politics, but God gave him a son who innately pursued his father’s dream, and he saw himself in his son and thought “I feel good”. He was an avid golfer who loved to spend his free time on the golf course; he always said he went to mass on Saturdays so he could be free to play golf all the other days of the week. He was very proud of the certificates he earned for scoring several holes in one. Harold leaves to mourn – His loving wife, Ethel Jones of Augusta, Ga, and His six children, Elaine Jones, Karen Jones Lewis, Harolyn Bacon (Dwayne), Anatascia Boateng (Enoch), Mary Johnson (Larry), and Senator Harold V Jones, II. Nine Grandchildren: Kristen Tate (Lawrence), Raymond Thompson, Nikio Fielding, Kenya Davies (Ryan), Kelli Davis, LaTasha Grant, Vernon Johnson, Mario Johnson (Twanna), and Victoria Arocho. 24 Great-grand Children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
