Derrell attended the Kosciusko School District until he moved to Chicago, IL. He furthered his education in Chicago, IL and earned a certificate in Culinary Arts. Derrell used these cooking skills often at family gatherings, reunions, etc.; he loved to show off his expertise! Derrell also was very talented in construction and concrete work.
Derrell genuinely loved his family dearly; he expressed his love in so many ways, always with his beautiful smile.
Derrell departed this life on Tuesday July 26, 2022. Preceding him in death were his father, Mr. Robert "Rex" Myricks; Chicago, IL; his maternal grandmother, Ms. Annie Lee Hull; Kosciusko, MS; his fraternal grandparents, Mr. Ollie and Mrs. Maxine Myricks; Chicago, IL and Jackie Ray Hull, Jackson, MS; his brother, Joseph Myricks, Memphis, TN.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, his loving mother, Ms. Annie Ruth Hull, Kosciusko, MS; his step-father; James T. Hunt, Sr., Kosciusko, MS; his grandfather, Bennie Cole, Milwaukee, WI; his fiancé', Tiara Moore; Chicago, IL; six children: Kwan Yates, Darriel Howard, Deja Vaughn, Paityn Hull, Trinity Strong and Karter Brister; all of Chicago, IL; three grandchildren; Arianna Yates, Aiden Yates and Nolynn Yates; all of Chicago, IL; four brothers; Davon Hull; Southaven, MS; James T. Hunt, Jr.; Pearl, MS; Kendrick Hunt, Kosciusko, MS; Robert Myricks, Jr.; Cincinnati, OH; one sister; Teresa Richardson; Columbus, OH; four nephews; Davion Hull and Jaylnn George, both of Grenada, MS; Kendarian Gaddis and JaDeveon Jamison, both of Koscisuko, MS; three nieces; JaMya Harris and Janiya Berry both of Grenada, MS; Jaliyah Hunt, Flowood, MS; one great nephew, Kayden Mallett, Grenada, MS a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he loved dearly and showed him love in return.
