Ronald Stuckey

Passed 08/05/2022

Ronald (Buddy) Edward Stuckey was born on February 12, 1951, in Richmond, VA., to the late Sadie Ervin and James Gilchrist. Ronald was in the first class of 1968 to graduate from John F. Kennedy High School in Richmond, VA.

After high school Ronald attended Virginia Commonwealth University before enlisting in the US Air Force as a Medical Admin Specialist and Statistical Clerk during the Vietnam War from 1972-1976. After being honorably discharged from the military, Ronald worked at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Washington, D.C., where he worked as a psychiatric nurse. Ronald also met his future wife Carolyn Gray (Stuckey), who also worked at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital as an intern social worker. From that union, two beautiful children, Madessa and Devin were born.

Following Saint Elizabeth’s, Ronald worked as a store manager for People’s Drug Store where he really enjoyed working with the public and excelled as an efficient and effective manager. He later became a Project Manager at the research facility Harry Diamond Laboratories, in Adelphi, Md.

Ronald moved back to Richmond, VA., to care for his late brother Robert (Bobby) Ervin, Jr., who battled with cancer. In 2018, Ronald moved to North Carolina to be closer to his daughter Madessa, who cared for him during his battle with dementia.

Ronald was a very charismatic and intelligent man that loved music, good food (he was a great cook), and enjoyed vacations, museums, and music festivals with his family.

Ronald was predeceased by his mother Sadie Ervin, father James Gilchrist, stepfather Robert Ervin Sr.; (siblings) Robert (Bobby) Ervin Jr., Lois Ervin, and Janice Gilchrist.

Ronald is survived by his loving family; Carolyn Stuckey (former spouse), Madessa Stuckey (daughter), Devin Stuckey (son), Jacqueline Stuckey (sister), Robinette (Penny) Ervin (sister), and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Ronald was loved tremendously and will be missed greatly.
