On July 24, 1955 in Phenix City, AL, Bernice was born to the late Charlie Alexander, Sr. and the late Ruth Gary Alexander. Bernice was raised in the red clay hills of a small community known as the "Hike".
Growing up in a godly home, Bernice spiritual roots were nurtured at the Bethel A.M.E Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Z.D. Hardwick where the perfect light shone in her life. Through the years she continued her work in the church as a member of the stewardess board, pastor's aide committee and missionary society.
Bernice graduated from Mount Olive High School class of 1973 and before her declining health; she was a Q.A. supervisor with Alatrade Foods.
Like her mother, Ruth and other sister, Judy, Bernice was an avid baker, often baking red velvet cakes during the holidays. Her magnetic personality brightened the days of those she encountered. She loved God, her family and doted on her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Ruth Alexander; brothers, Joel Alexander and Michael Wayne Alexander.
Bernice leaves to cherish her legacy and fondest memories her devoted daughter, Gwendolyn Jenkins; loving son, Curtis Jenkins, Jr.; grandchildren, Tiera Upshaw, Ashante' Jenkins, Curtis M.
