Samuel Colón was born March 9, 1939, in Villalba Puerto Rico: moved to Manatí, Puerto Rico at the age of 5. He was raised in a Christian home. He was the youngest of his family of 9. After his father’s death in 1954, his mother and him moved to Chicago with some of his brothers that were already there, he was 15 years old. In Chicago, he attended the first Spanish Church of God, along with his mother and some members of his family. June 25, 1960 he married his favorite person, Loyda Agosto. They became the proud parents of 5 boys and 1 girl; Gamaliel, Eliseo, Samuel Jr, Awilda, Lemuel, and Melvin, and the grandparents of 19 grandchildren. He studied at the Church of God Bible Institute in Chicago in order to better prepare for his calling. In 1973 he moved with his family to Southern California for better economic opportunities After living in California, he perceived in his heart to return to Puerto Rico in 1982, where he successfully pastored two churches. He knew that there was not a Church of God in his hometown and proceeded to start a church in the living room of his house with 29 persons, and finally, the Church of God was established in his hometown to this day. Moving back to the United States, he was delighted to be a part of something he had always wanted to do. To be able to participate in short time missions’ trips. He was able to visit Honduras, Nicaragua, Uruguay, Guatemala, just to name a few… He would stop whatever he was doing to witness to one soul, no matter where in the world he would be, that was his passion. He was a faithful member of the Good Shepherd Church of God in Pahokee, FL. Since May of 1996 Bro. Colón finished his long journey on Monday 8/9/2022, when the Lord extended him an invitation that he could not refuse. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith, and went to receive the crown of righteousness, because he loved the Lord.
