Obituary For Orlando Galloway

Orlando Buford Galloway, 83, departed this life on Sunday, August 14, 2022, at the Bishop House Hospice Facility, Wentworth, N.C. He was born to George and Pearl Millner Galloway, on September 16, 1938.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Madelyn Hairston Galloway, who died in June of 2020, just one day short of their 53rd anniversary.

Orlando was a graduate of Carver High School and served proudly in the United States Army. He worked at Fieldcrest Mills and retired from.E.I. Dupont with 25 years of service.

He is survived by two sons, David and Charles Galloway, two sisters, Beulah Wheeler and Geneva (Joseph) Niblett, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at The Hairston Family Cemetery (beside Mt. Olive East Christian), Spencer Preston Road. There will be a viewing on Friday September 2, 2022, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Hairston Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home of his sister-in-law, Valerie Pettie, 835 Carver Road with observance of Covid-19 guidelines of face coverings and social distancing.

The loss of Uncle Orlando on the 14th of August was difficult. It was difficult because he is my last living Uncle on The Galloway side of my late Mother's family. When you are 75 years old and you have Aunts and Uncles near your age that are transitioning, then you think about your own mortality. Please accept my Deepest Sympathy and Condolences and know that you that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Remember also that the "Love your Mom and Dad had for you does not stop in Death."
