Angela Joy Fountain
Passed 08/13/2022
Angela Joy Fountain (our “angel of joy”) passed from this life into eternal life on Saturday, August 13, 2022, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Angela was born on June 4, 1961, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Daniel and Gussie (Ashley) McMillan, Jr. She is the second oldest of the “Fab Five'' and birthday twin to her sister Trina who was also born on June 4, one year later. Angela grew up in Detroit and attended St. Cecilia Catholic school, Winship Elementary, Ludington Middle School, and Cooley High School. As a child, Angela received speech therapy for a stutter. This challenge ignited her passion for words. In addition to studying Latin in high school, she pursued her degree in speech pathology at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, receiving her bachelor's from Wayne State University. Angela also earned a certificate in paralegal studies and a master's in management and human resources certification from Walsh College. Angela worked at Henry Ford Hospital, the City of Detroit and Beaumont Health during her career. Angela was a gifted writer and an avid reader who expressed her artistic talents in drawing. She enjoyed black and white movies in keeping with her classic vintage style. Angela was fascinated by the musical composition of symphony orchestras enjoying concerts with her friends. The "Martha Stewart" of the family, she was obsessed with organization. Angela was passionate about animals, especially horses and her much-beloved teacup terrier "Icee." The family knew Angela's humor well as she light-heartedly imitated phrases and expressions of her closest family members. She developed a desire to travel from childhood trips in the family station wagon, eventually traveling to her favorite place - Paris, France. Faith in the Lord, Jesus Christ, was the foundation of Angela's life. Raised in the Catholic church, she later joined Great Faith International Ministries (GFIM), where she was a member for more than twenty years. She excitedly volunteered in various capacities, serving with diligence and a spirit of excellence. While not in the five-fold ministry, Angela ministered to all those she encountered with her disarming smile, words of encouragement, prayer, and the Word of God. When asked how she exuded such grace and humility, she responded, "I asked God to help me love his people as much as He did." Angela was blessed with a son Percy D. Fountain, III, whom she shared with her former spouse Percy Fountain, II. She delighted in being a "Glam-Ma" to her two grandchildren, Angenique and Angelos, hosting elaborate tea parties, sleepovers and other adventures reminiscent of her childhood. She is survived by her parents, Daniel and Gussie McMillan, Jr., her son Percy D. Fountain III, siblings Melinda McMillan, Trina (Eric) Scott, Michael McMillan, and Sherry McMillan, nieces Sierra Scott and Aria (Conner) Cadle, grandchildren Angenique and Angelos Fountain, grandniece Furie Cadle and many cousins and dear friends.
