Ms. Jacqueline McRae Autry

On Wednesday, August 24, 2022, Jacqueline McRae Autry silently submitted her spirit to the Lord at home, surrounded by her family and loved ones.

Jacqueline McRae Autry also known as “Jackie” was born on September 3, 1947, in Richmond County, NC to the late Charleston Jack Gordon and Carrie Mae McRae. She was also fondly called “Moonk” by close friends and family.

Jackie was a graduate of Mineral Springs High School in Ellerbe NC. She continued her education at Montgomery Community College where she studied Criminal Justice, CNA, and Early Childhood Education.

Jackie accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Airy AME Zion Church. Jackie was a faithful and devout member where she served on the following auxiliaries: Sunday School Teacher, Assistance Superintendent of Sunday School, Usher Board, Field Steward, Christian Education, Buds of Promise, Senior Choir, President of Pastors Aide and Trustee.

After 35 years, Jackie retired from Collins & Aikman.

Jackie was preceded in death by her late husband, John Wilson Autry. She was also preceded in death by her mother and father, Charleston Jack Gordon and Carrie Mae McRae, her brothers, Authur Vester Thomas and Gaston Mormon, and niece, Vendella Young.

Those left to cherish her loving memories are her son, Simeon McRae (Tanita) of Seagrove, NC, daughter, Letitia Autry of the home; seven grandchildren: Roberto (Boonk) McIntyre Jr, Shaquan McRae, Shy’esha Steele, Qanay’ja McRae, Shymetrus Steele, La’Shay Ewing and Aubrey Spencer; three great grandchildren: Karter McIntyre, Justice McRae and Kyrio McIntyre; one sister, Rebecca Lilly (Dorseph); one aunt, Bobbie Bowden; cousin, Betty Jean Neal; godson, James Neal (Karyn); special son, Noel Loza; nieces and nephews: Larry, Penelope, Rickey, Loretta, Kenny, Chris, Mickey and Bobby. Special nephew and nieces that were raised in the home, Anthony McDonald, Lakita Mcilwain and Navia McDonald; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

Special friends: Tara Davis, Dorothy Gould, James Little and Reverend Margo Gaddy.

The Homegoing Services will be on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, 1:00pm, Mt. Airy AME Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, NC. Interment will be in the family plot of the church cemetery.
