She was preceded in death by her six siblings: Ida Mae Fulton, Mack Smith, Joe Smith, Guy Smith, Richard Smith and Mentorie Clark.
She was a faithful member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she served as an usher for many years and other auxiliaries of the church. She received several awards and accolades. She loved her church family and received the nickname "back seat driver" as she traveled to many church programs and revivals in the various surrounding cities.
She attended her church faithfully until her health declined.
She is preceded in death, her husband, Charles Grier and son, Milton Grier.
She is survived by six daughters, Rachel Anderson, Valerie Davis (Lonnie), Fayetteville, NC, Vickie Wilson, Charlotte, NC, Lisa Squires (Ennis), Durham, NC, Sandra Conyers, Durham, NC and Teri Smith, Belmont, NC and one son, Jerry Grier (Kelly), Belmont, NC; nine grandchildren, Sean Anderson, Coy Anderson, Lonnie Davis (Jada), Dana Caudle (Jackie), Tiffani Singleton (Maurice), Lekia Squires, Jeremy Grier (Tia) Dominique Isles and Collette Grier. She has thirteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her dearest cousin, Margaret Johnson.
For Minnie Grier’s 100th birthday, she received acknowledgements from the City of Belmont, State of North Carolina Roy Cooper, Governor and the White House, President Joe Biden. Her family gave her a drive by parade in front of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Family Life Center and a beautiful 100th birthday party supported by her church and Belmont community.
