A Celebration of Life Service for Edwin Charles Presley will be held on Friday, September 9, 2022, 11:00 A.M. at the Atlanta West End Seventh-day Adventist Church, 845 Lawton Street, SW, Atlanta, GA 30310. A Public viewing will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022, between the hours of 1:00 PM through 6:00 PM at Alfonso Dawson Mortuary. A viewing will also be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 9, 2022, before the funeral services at the church.

Mr. Edwin Charles Presley went to sleep in Jesus on the morning of Thursday, August 25, 2022, to await our Lord’s Second Coming. He was 66 years old. He loved the LORD.

Edwin was born on November 10th, 1955, in the port city of Saint Petersburg, Florida at Mercy Hospital. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1973. He attended and graduated from the University of South Florida and majored in Criminal Justice. With his degree, he worked as a substance abuse counselor, family counselor, juvenile counselor, and probation officer. He then transitioned into his second area of study, the field of insurance. He worked for 25 years as an insurance adjuster for different insurance companies in Florida and Georgia. During this time, he published “The Consumer Guide to the Automobile Insurance Claims Process” and “Time Management/Desk Management for Insurance Adjusters. His third area of study was real estate, where he worked with sellers, buyers, and investors. He also owned and operated his own real estate firm until the mortgage crisis in 2010. During the crisis he collaborated with other established real estate companies to provide consulting services to multiple families in the community dealing with buying and selling homes, foreclosures, and modifications. He continued incorporating family and youth counseling support for his clients and their families. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going on scenic drives with his wife, Barbara, family road trips, reading, writing, music, sports, gardening, cars, fishing. He published four suspense and romance novels in the Christian literature genre.

He served God in every church he attended in various ministries such as youth ministries, Bible study ministries, sports ministries, church choir, Sabbath School, community services, homeless ministries, religious liberty, and risk management. Edwin married the love of his life for 39 years, Barbara Jean Presley (Williams) on March 20th, 1983, at Elim Seventh-day Adventist Church in St. Petersburg, Florida with family and friends present to celebrate their beautiful union. Edwin and Barbara raised their two children Bridgette and Byron in Fairburn, Georgia and Lithonia, Georgia.

Edwin Charles is predeceased by his mother, Lillie Mae Presley, father, Irvin Presley, Sr., grandparents, Mary Etta Hardeman and Walter Mells, Sr., sisters, Cassandra Emily Presley Siermons and Vernetta Robinson, brother-in-law Cedrick Bias, mother-in-law, Adele Mitchell, father-in-law, Willie Mitchell, and brother-in-law, Walter Williams.

Edwin leaves his legacy to his surviving wife Barbara, his son and daughter-in-law, Byron and Nicole Presley, oldest child and daughter Bridgette Presley, and nephew-son Shannon Presley, Godson & Goddaughter-in-law, Kendrick and Trizan Washington, and GrandGodson, Liam Washington.

He also leaves behind cherished memories to his brothers and sisters, Jacquelyn Presley, Irvin Pressley, Jr. (Elizabeth), Gary Lee Presley, Ruthinette Bias, Pamela Rena Presley, Patricia Ann Dixon, Eric “Chief” Robinson, Lenora Mitchell, Rene Yvette Robinson Flowers, Anthony Robinson, brothers and sisters-in-laws, Mitchell Williams (Diane), Eddie Williams, Tony Mitchell (Kathryn), Pernell Mitchell (Ruby), Robert Mitchell, Cindy Washington (Kenneth), Kathy McCloud (Oscar), uncles and aunts, Lester Byrd (Sharon), Clementine Mells, Mary Murphy (Smithy), Millie Phillips, Paulette McRoy, Verna Colon, Sharon Haggans, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
