Mrs. Murylen Harris Wallace Broom, 87, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Spartanburg, SC, passed to her promised reward on Monday, August 29, 2022. Mrs. Broom was the widow of the late McKinley M. Wallace, Jr. and the late Pervis Broom. She was the youngest daughter of the late Nesbitt Harris, Sr. and Alice Garrett Harris.

She leaves to cherish sweet memories: her children, Gail (Anthony) Wallace Tolbert, Summerville, SC, Sherrill Wallace Dowlington, Spartanburg, SC, Rev. Tyman M. (Glinda) Wallace, Raeford, NC, Celeste D. Wallace, Spartanburg, SC and Janet N. Broom, Summerville, SC; eleven grandchildren, (three of whom were reared in her home, Labinka Wallace, Chavis Cook, and Kwa Broom); nine great grandchildren; two foster sons, Jimmy and James Artison; sister-in-law, Marion Wallace Webb; brother-in-law, Robert McCluney; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by: her siblings, Nesbitt Harris, Jr., Rachel H. Dover, Eddie G. Harris and Charles E. Harris; and stepdaughters, Virginia B. Miller and Barbara Broom.

The relatives and friends of Mrs. Murylen Broom are invited to attend her Celebration of Life Service on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Friendship Baptist Church, 250 Morning Dr., Spartanburg, SC. Burial will be in the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, 2256 Cannons Campground Rd., Spartanburg, SC.

The family will be receiving family and friends at 641 New Cut Road, Spartanburg, South Carolina. Due to COVID-19 protocols, everyone is required to wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
