Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. EST, Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Colbert A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Seale, AL with Rev. Herbert Newsome, officiating. Visitation will be Friday, September 9, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Sister Anna L. Willis Jones was born December 31, 1935 to the late Jimmie L. Willis, Sr. and Prince Anna Bellamy Willis.
Anna accepted Christ at an early age and joined Colbert A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was a member of the 9th District East Alabama Conference Missionary Society, Stewardess Board, and a previous Choir member. In addition, Anna served as a member of the Hatchechubbee Group Mission Circle, Deacon Wives Union, Universal Benevolent Brotherhood & Sisterhood Society, United Cities Gas Co. Diplomat Club and The Girlfriends Club.
On July 3, 1954, she was united in holy matrimony with the late Blanch L. Jones, Sr. They were married for 53 ½ years. Anna loved outdoors and took pride in her garden. Her hobbies included: sewing, cooking, and enjoying spending time with family and friends. Anna loved laughter and her laughter filled any room. She could make you laugh with a simple conversation. There was never a dull moment with her. Upon her retirement in 2020, she remained friends with Mrs. Mellie Fountain, Mrs. Butch Deaton, and Mrs. Mary Sue Batastine whom she loved and cherished.
On September 3, 2022, Anna peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home.
She was preceded in death by sisters: Berta Mae Bellamy and Emma Mae Sanks; brothers, Jimmie L. Willis Jr., John H. Willis Sr., and Benjamin Willis; granddaughter, Jade Miana Jones.
She leaves to cherish her memories four children; Willie (JoAnn) Jones, (Retired) SFC Pamela D. Jones, Blanch Jones, Jr., and Douglas (Jewell) Jones of Seale, AL; two grandchildren; Dr. Juanita (Thamarkus) Jones-Harris of Grantville, GA and Douglas Hunter Jones of Seale, AL; three sisters, Martha Johnson of Brighton, TN, Minnie Bell Walton of Seale, AL, and Gloria Ann Stevens of Columbus, GA; one sister-in-law, Ella P. Willis of Phenix City, AL. Anna also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends to cherish her memories.
