Mr. Michael B. Goolsby, I, was born July 23, 1952, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Thomas D. Goolsby, Jr. and Lillie Goolsby. He is the Second Generation, Owner of Goolsby Mortuary & Cremation Services. Mr. Michael passed away on September 2, 2022. Homegoing Celebration Services will begin Thursday, September 8, 2022, with his Public Visitation starting at 12:00 noon until 7:00 p.m. at the family's firm located at 1375 Jonesboro Road, S.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30315. His Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 9, 2022, at noon at Mt Zion Second Baptist Church located at 137 Boulevard NE, Atlanta, Georgia 30312. Mr. Michael B. Goolsby, I, will be placed in state at 11:00 a.m. at the church. This service will be recorded and streamed live. In the event the service is interrupted at any time due to technical issues, the entire service will be uploaded and available to view later in the day. The interment will be held at Southview Cemetery, located at 1990 Jonesboro Road, S.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30315. Mr. Michael B. Goolsby, I, is survived by his loving wife and partner; Marie A.W. Goolsby, three children: Gekelia, Michael II, (Dawn) and Erica, (Justin) Goolsby-Elder, six grandchildren, and a host of other relatives, extended family, and friends. Daddy, I've always viewed you as my knight in shining armor, even when you felt your lowest. You and mommy have equipped us with the necessary tools and more to navigate through life. I hate that we're left to navigate without you. We will take care of mom and continue our family legacy. I want to be selfish so badly, but I can't find it in my heart to do so. For the past few years, you've been in so much pain and tried to stay strong even when we knew you were physically and emotionally weak. Knowing and understanding how much pain you've been in, I can't began to understand how you fought for so long. Before your ship began to sail I genuinely know how much you loved your family. For many years you and mom took all the necessary precautions to protect us from the elements that the world presents. I wish that I had the chance to protect you from illness and suffering. For years, I've been trying to prepare for this day. In actuality, nothing can prepare you for such a traumatic life event. What I'd give for...a phone call, Saturday ride from dialysis, another holiday at my house or just to tell you how much I love and adore you. I could write a book about the memories we've created, the love(bond) that have or just about how much you mean to me. Saying I miss you is an understatement. I wish that I could tell you I would be okay but that's far from the truth. Out of all the lessons you've taught us, you never taught us how to live without you. I can't promise that the sprit of jealousy won't take over when I see others with their dad. I find myself ask God why did he take you from me not knowing how blessed I was to have you. Daddy, I am proud to be your daughter. I am begging God to give me the strength to adapt to this adjustment. No amount of prayer, words, time or strength will heal this deep womb. I don't want to say goodbye because that means I'll never see you again. Until we meet again, Big Dimp. Love your baby girl, Eicky. I can't wait to "pewn" you again.
