Obituary For Evangelist Ella Catherine Smith

Evangelist Ella Catherine Brown Smith, 90, transitioned from this life to her heavenly home on September 6, 2022 at Memorial Satilla Health located in Waycross. Evangelist Smith was preceded in death by her late husband, Bishop V.O. Smith, and her son, Henry C. Smith. She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Fred L. Smith (JoAnn). Evangelist Smith was a homemaker but extremely active in her Holiness faith. She was a dedicated and devoted member of the Holy Band of Inspiration in Brunswick, Ga. She was an Evangelist , Gospel Singer, Gospel Preacher, and an awesome pianist. Service will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 3:30 p.m. at Church of Christ Written in Heaven in Waycross. I got to know Evangelist Catherine Smith from the Austin Chapel's Tuesday Soup and Prayer. She saved us with her musical gift by playing piano as we sang hymns. Later I had the pleasure of picking her up then dropping her back home every Tuesday. During these times she shared her faith with me and we shared family stories. She told me of her love of her family; Fred and her niece . She was always impeccably dressed. Evangelist had such a kind sweet personality.. always gracious never a harsh tone ... and the drive to serve was admirable and an example of her faith. I thank God for placing her in my life if only for that short while as pandemic hit and soup & prayer shut down. I know she got a standing ovation when she transitioned with a "well done my good and faithful servant." Peace be with you good Lady and WOG. My deepest condolences to her family. Darryl Johnson
