Percy Lee Bias

CROWLEY – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley, LA for Mr. Percy Lee Bias, 64, who departed this life on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Percy was born on Friday, October 20, 1957, to the late Rose Mae Semien Bias and John Curtis Bias, Sr. Percy graduated from Crowley High School in 1975. In 1976, he moved to Lafayette, LA where he was employed with Montgomery Wards for twelve years. In 1988, Percy moved to Decatur, GA where he resided for twenty-six years. While in Decatur, GA, Percy was employed with the Department of Social Services. In 2014, he moved back home (Crowley) and would often say “There’s no place like home.”

Percy was a faithful member of St. Theresa Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Peter Claver #51 and worked with the Junior Knights. Percy received the Martin Luther King award for his outstanding service to his church in 2020.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his two sisters, Rose Marie Bias and Jeanette Bias, both of Crowley, LA; one brother, Anthony James Bias of Crowley, LA; two aunts, Leaze Bias Lewis and Willie Mae Bias Henry, both of Crowley, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Percy was preceded in death by: his parents, John Curtis Bias, Sr. and Rose Mae Semien Bias and three brothers, Rufus Bias, John C. Bias, Jr. and Joseph C. Bias.

Active Pallbearers will be: Members of the Knights of Peter Claver #51, Donald Henry, Murrell Normand, Sr., Frederick Arceneaux, John Soloman, Joseph Thomas and Vernon Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Anthony Bias, Russell Bias, Dontorious Bias, Tyrese Cormier, Raylon Thomas, James C. Normand, Allen Scruggs and Tevin Peterson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m.

Interment will be held in South Crowley Cemetery.
