Obituary For Silas Howard Richey, Sr.

MR. SILAS HOWARD RICHEY, SR. โ€“ Age 69, of Cartersville, Georgia passed away Thursday September 8, 2022. He was born March 8, 1953. He graduated from Carterville High School and was a Veteran of The United States Army and was Honorably Discharged. He was employed at Shaw Industries as a lift truck driver. He served as a deacon at Mt. Zion Grassdale Baptist Church. He was an avid fisherman and fan of Cartersville High School football. He was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia Bell Richey and Willie Richey, Sr., sisters, Tammy Richey and Joyce Richey, brothers, Willie Richey, Jr. and Allen D. Richey, nephew, Scotty Richey, and former wife and friend, Pam Richey.

He is survived by his dedicated sons, Silas Howard Richey, Jr., Bryan (Amber) Richey, Sr., Jason (Cashay) Richey; grandchildren, Kilas Richey, Kori Richey, Terice Burrell, Caitlyn Richey, Bryan Richey, Jr., Kamryn Richey, King Richey, Nya Sutton, and Coria Sutton; great grandchildren, Kilan Johnson and Kashtian Pierce; sisters, Lizzie Richey, Ella Mae Miller, and Patty Richey; sister-in-law, Marva Richey; brothers, John T. Richey, Andrew (Carolyn) Richey, Jody Richey, and Kelvin (Rebecca) Richey; aunts, Mildred Peeks and Alma Heard; uncle, Ernest (Linda) Dean; nieces, Heather Miller, Kim Miller, Latoya Miller, Rheagan Richey, Lexi Richey, Shae Richey, Brielle Richey, Teegan Richey, Laina Richey; nephews, Eric (Marge) Richey, Xavier Richey, James Richey, Jimmy Richey, Brent (Tamera) Richey, Dustin Richey, and Cole Richey; a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:00 P. M. at Mt. Zion Grassdale Baptist Church, 207 N. Bartow St., Cartersville, GA 30120, with cousin, Jeff Peeks, Eulogist, Rev. William Q. Watkins, Presiding and Pastor Willie J. Coombs, Officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:00 P. M. until the funeral hour. Interment; Providence Cemetery, Cartersville, Georgia. Arrangements by Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, Georgia.

Silas was full of life and love for his family and friends and he touched so many people with his kindness. Some of my favorite memories are the conversations we would have about the Lord and of course he always asked about my family. He loved his Cartersville Purple Hurricanes.
