Addie Mae Garrett Kirksey was born on January 13, 1958 to the parentage of the late John W. Garrett, Sr. and Romania Garrett in Anniston, Alabama. Minister Kirksey attended Talladega County School where she graduated from Munford High School in 1976. Addie accepted Christ and was baptized at a young age under the leadership of Pastor Nobles at the Sweet Rock Baptist Church. Later, she joined the Rest Haven Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Billy Ray Morgan where she continued her spiritual journey into discipleship. Here is where she accepted God's call to preach His word to all. She pursued this even through the challenges of her sickness. She was always trying to bring her family and friends closer to God. On May 11, 2017, Addie received her theology degree from Birmingham Easonian Baptist Bible School. Addie was a true advocate for God and did not mind letting you know. The Lord called Minister Kirksey to assist at the Mt. Pleasant CME Church in Piedmont, Alabama and later at the Greater New Life Center in Anniston, Alabama. She united with the New Birth Christian Center under the leadership of Apostle Michael Truss. Throughout her illness, her faith never wavered because she loved God with all her heart. Addie was employed at the Anniston Army Depot for over 20 years where she continued to spread God's Word.

On September 8, 2022, God came into Addie's room and gave her rest. She was preceded in death by her father, brothers, James and Derico Garrett and sister, Sadie Sistrunk. She leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Hilda (Sean) McClellan of Lincoln, AL, Curtis (Shena) Kirksey, and Glenell Kirksey of Anniston, AL; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother, Romania Garrett of Anniston, AL; five sisters, Annie Lee Harper, of Detroit, MI, Patricia (Willie) Mays, Greta (Jewell) Blackwell, Kathleen (Edward) Bolton of Anniston, AL and Nastrenia (Anthony) Ross of Deatsville, AL; four brothers; Cecil (Bert) Williams of Detroit, MI, John Garrett, Jr., of Nashville, TN, Paul (Bobbie) Garrett, of Piedmont, AL, and Darrell Garrett of Weaver, AL; one aunt, Samantha Anderson of Knoxville, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and church family.

Also left to cherish her memories are: loving father to their children, Glenell Kirksey Sr.; and special sisters; Claudette Cay, Patricia Greene, Patricia Payton and Sandra Gail Jones; and spiritual daughter, LaKesia Douthitt.
