Obituary For Jimmy Norwood Robinson

Mr. Jimmy Robinson, passed away Sunday, September at Virginia Hospital Center.

Funeral service Wednesday, September 28, 2022 11:30am Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church. 11am Visitation.

Jimmy Robinson was born on February 20, 1955 in Sampson County, NC. He grew up in Greensboro, NC and went to Page High School. After graduation, Jimmy attended NC A&T University with a major in computer science. He served in the United States Air Force for four years. Thereafter, Jimmy married the love of his life, Deborah Sloan. Together they had two wonderful children, Reggie and Nicole. He worked at Unisys Corporation in Reston Virginia as a Project Manager. His love of sports led him to coach youth basketball for many years. Jimmy loved playing in the adult basketball and volleyball leagues. He loved the Washington Redskins and would always tell folks that they would win another Superbowl one day. Jimmy loved music, he even played the guitar growing up, he wanted to be Jimmy Hendrix. He loved his family with all of his heart. He was a loving and compassionate son, brother, father, husband, and grandfather, who doted on his children and grandchildren. He had an infectious smile and has never met a stranger. Jimmy was known by his family as the Barbeque King. Lord knows he loved a good meal. He loved coming home to NC to visit his family and to eat some of his favorite foods.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Edelle Robinson and Clara McCauley. He leaves his legacy of love and strength to his wife, Deborah Robinson, Reston Va: his son, Reggie Robinson, Wasilla Alaska: his daughter Nicole Robinson, Richmond Va. and his three grandchildren, Rashaun Robinson, Aaliyah Robinson, and Jasmine Robinson, Wasilla Alaska; two sisters, Christy McCauley, Rockville MD; Kim McCauley, Greensboro NC. Brothers, David McCauley, Greensboro NC, Calvin Spearman, Norfolk, Va; Samuel Spearman, Morrisville NC; Ellis Spearman, New Orleans, LA; Ronald Spearman, Greensboro NC; Johnny Spearman, Raleigh, NC, and his Uncle, Roland E. Robinson, Greensboro, NC; and a host of other family and friends.
