Obituary For Lillian Gist

Lillian Brown Gist "Get" passed away on September 22, 2022 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Gist was born on June 14, 1943 to the late John Henry Brown, Sr. and Anna Long Brown in Newberry, SC. She was the wife of the late Leroy Gist for fifty-one years.

Mrs. Gist was a member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, Spartanburg, SC at an early age. She also sang on the Senior Choir at Foster Chapel Baptist Church of Jonesville, SC.

Mrs. Gist was a former employee of Spartanburg Convalescent Center and South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind.

She was preceded in death by: her brothers, John Henry Brown, Jr., James Thomas Brown and Frank Brown, Sr; her sisters, Willie Mae Simmons and Mary Owens-Wilkins; her sisters-in-law, Beulah Mae Nelson; and her brother-in-law, Oscar Gist, Jr.

Left to cherish fond and loving memories are: her daughters, Kimberly Gist, Rhonda A. Gist and Pamela (Lamont) Smith all of Spartanburg, SC; her son, Kevin Gist of Spartanburg, SC; her sisters, Elizabeth (James) Stewart and Patty (Thomas) Gentry of Spartanburg, SC and Carrie (Thurman) Clemmons of Lexington, NC; her brother-in-law, Ervin Nelson of Spartanburg, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of the Life of Lillian Brown Gist "Get" will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at The Worship Center, 945 Canaan Rd., Roebuck, SC. Interment will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St., Roebuck, SC.
