RICHARD EDMOND ALEXANDER, affectionately known as “Uncle Richard”, son of the late Ladd W. Alexander and Alice Jeffers Alexander was born on February 24, 1948 in Mecklenburg County, VA. He was redressed and reunited with the love of his life Rev. Dr. Annie T. Alexander on August 10, 2022. He was preceded in death by his siblings Jenny (William) Holloway, Mary (Ronald) Perry, Sophia Alexander, Norfleet (Betty) Alexander, Roy Alexander and Arthur Alexander; brothers-in-law, William Holloway, Henry Louis Noel, and sister-in-law, Betty Alexander.

At an early age, he was baptized and joined New Hope Baptist Church, Boydton, VA and attended Shiloh School.

On April 9, 1972 he married Annie Alexander. After preceding him in death suddenly, three months prior—they are now together after 50 years of marriage and 54 years of being together.

Uncle Richard was a hardworking, dedicated and faithful employee of the following: Al Haley Construction and Mobile Home Development, Bugg Farm, China Grove Farms and he retired after 20 years of service due to failing health from the Town of Boydton. After retirement, dialysis three days a week, prostate cancer survivor, later years suffering from COVID-19 and collapsed lungs—Uncle Richard still fought.

It was after the sudden death and departure of his soul mate, Rev. Dr. Annie Alexander, Uncle Richard was heartbroken, grieved and succumbed to his illnesses.

He leaves to cherish his memory, five children- Lynette Tucker-Finn, Petersburg, VA; Hope Annette Alexander, Boydton, VA; Richard Ladd Alexander, Clarksville, VA; Dereck Skyler Alexander, South Hill, VA and Kenneth (Nicole) Payne, Richmond, VA. Grandchildren he reared as his own- Ebonie Rochelle Finn (Edward) Harris, Christopher Elija-Tomas Winters, Jayden Elija-Scott Alexander, Jayla Mone’ Alexander, Daniel Scott Alexander (Brooke Beasley), Onyx Kira Finn, Rena Hope Braxton, Chyna Helene Braxton, Hailey Williams, Hattie Payne, and Ja’Nai Ragsdale; Great grandchildren- Logan Mehkai Pinckney, Ashton Jamir Pinckney and Na’Santi Vonlee Brooks; Siblings- Louise Winder, Annie Noel, and Jean Hawkes; Sisters-in-laws, Josephine and Marie Alexander. A brother-in-law, Barkus and his wife, Connie Tucker who were more like a brother and sister. He had two nephews and niece that he called his sons and beloved daughter- LaDonte (Angel) Hawkes, Gary Alexander and Cynthia Alexander. He also leaves a host of other nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and other friends.
