Obituary For Christine Bonds

Mrs. Christine, affectionately known as Chris, Hughes Bonds was born to the late Ms. Katie Mae Hughes and Mr. Fred Jackson on July 22, 1947. She shared her life with Mr. Connes Lee Bonds for 55 years of marriage and to this union they had three children: Yvette Bonds Woodruff of Spartanburg, SC. Michell Ann Woodard (Jeff) of Gastonia, NC, and Gerald Lee Bonds (Tareyta) of Boiling Springs, SC. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Michael English, Jr, Keyerra and Ymani Woodruff, Courtney and Jasmine Meredith (both of the home), and Kiara Noise (Ira) and Ta’lin Bonds. Chris loved family time and looked forward to spending quality with her 10 great grandchildren and believed in spreading love to each of them.

Her surviving siblings are Ms. Mary Williams of Spartanburg, SC, Bennie Jackson and Cynthia Jackson of Spartanburg, SC. She was preceded in death by her brothers Mr. James Robert Hughes and Mr. Fred Herbert Jackson. Also, her sister Alfreda Jackson. Chris also has two nieces Naomi Scott (Sherman) and Sonya Miller (Dale) whom she shared a special bond with. She also had many more special nieces and nephews. Chris also enjoyed spending time with her sister-in-law, Ms. Ann Bonds of Spartanburg, SC. She was the godmother of Joslyn Gaines of Rockledge, FL and took pride in loving her as if she was one of her very own.

Chris cared for and believed in building community and support systems. She treated everyone like they mattered, and she would give her all at whatever she put her hands to do. She was a quiet storm. A woman of few words, but she possessed a heart of gold. Chris’ laughter would cheer up anyone who was feeling down and out. Her laughter would be loud and so very contagious! She loved to take family trips and do family outings. That was also a highlight for her because she was able to spend time with all her children and grandchildren.

Chris was loved unconditionally and will be missed greatly by her husband, children, grandchildren, and other family members and friends. Her presence with us here seemed far too short; however, her presence in the arms of the Father is eternal and we celebrate her life as a life well-lived.

Service will beheld on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Cleveland Chapel. Burial will be in the Heritage Memorial Gardens, Roebuck, SC.
