LINDALE -- The Celebration of Life for Mrs. Shirley Cooper, 81, of Lindale will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022 at 11 a.m. The service will be held in the sanctuary of Hopewell Valley Baptist Church with Pastor Efrem Collins, officiating and Pastor Marcus Jones, eulogist. FACE MASK RECOMMENDED. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery under the direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.
Mrs. Cooper was born on April 7, 1941 in Lindale, Texas and transitioned on October 3, 2022 at Hospice of East Texas.
She graduated from Bragg Morris High School in Lindale and received her certification to become a medication aide from Tyler Junior College. Mrs. Cooper was a life resident of Smith County, a health care worker as well as a home maker. She was a faithful member of St. Mary Baptist Church where she served in many capacities including: Member of the Choir, President of the Pastor's Aide Committee, Usher, Church Secretary, Kitchen Committee, Mission Department, former teach for the Kids Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Lonnie Acy and Dollie Robinson, son-in-love: George Cooper; granddaughter-in-love: Brandy Cooper; sisters: Gloria Porter, Jo Ann Tucker, Ida Mae Acy, Geraldine Acy, Jennie Ruth Acy and brothers: Billy Adkins, Lemmie Acy, Thelma Acy, Tommie Acy and Howard Acy.
Her precious memories will be cherished by one son: Titus (Tiffany ) Cooper of Lindale, Texas; three daughters: Kasandra ( Ricky) Flournoy of Lindale, Ylonda ( Carlton ) Bullard of Glen Heights, and Ava (Victor ) Tennyson of Mesquite; two brothers: Roosevelt "Blue" Acy of Corsicana, Texas and Willie H Acy of Dallas, Texas. She leaves her legacy to eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Public viewing will be held Friday from 2 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
