After completing high school James joined the military proudly serving his country until his honorable discharge. Upon completion of his military service, he went to work for the USPS in Philadelphia until he became disabled. Upon returning home James was called into the ministry and was a member of High Street Baptist Church where he enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends. He also had a passion for drawing.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are one sister, Carolyn Williams of Martinsville, Virginia; one brother, Wali (Darleen) Fardan of Texas. Although James had no biological children he enjoyed laughing and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the C.R.V. Memorial Chapel at Hairston Funeral Home, with a visitation 30 minutes prior to the service. With Pastor Matthew Brown officiating. The burial will follow at Fair Haven Memorial Park, Spencer, VA. A public viewing will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Hairston Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. In accordance with the CDC a face covering, and social distancing will be required.
