Obituary For Mr. Climent R. Gardner

Augusta, Georgia-Mr. Climent Roberson Gardner was born November 5, 1935, to the late Joe Sam Gardner and Tommie Elsie Barnes Gardner in Buena Vista, Georgia. He entered into eternal rest on October 17, 2022, at Marshall Pines Assisted Living in Evans, Georgia. Climent attended elementary school in Chattahoochee County Cusseta, Georgia and graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1955. After high school, he served in the U.S. Army for three years. While in service he graduated from the U.S. Army Signal School, Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. He began his civil service career at Warner Robins Air Force Base in 1958 and transferred to the U.S. Army Signal Center at Fort Gordon, Georgia, as a Training Instructor from 1966 to 1974. He was promoted to a Communications/Training Specialist in 1974. He furthered his education in 1968 by enrolling in Augusta College and completing 160 quarter hours towards a major in Marketing Management. He retired in 1993 as a Telecommunications Specialist, completing thirty-six years of Federal Civil Service. Supporting his three children through college, Climent continued working at Ruben’s Department Store, the Augusta Computer Warehouse and Healthcare Consultants of America until he officially retired in 2003. On June 23, 1968, he wed Willie Eunice of Harlem, Georgia. To this union, three children were born, Pamela, Reginald and Kimberly, who he loved and supported infinitely. He honored his wedding vows to Eunice becoming her caretaker when she faced health challenges in 2005 until her untimely passing in 2007. He held a tender spot in his heart for his three grandsons, Bryce, Chad and Grant who added a distinct sparkle to his eyes. Mr. Gardner was an avid community supporter who volunteered his time, talents, and expertise to anyone in need. He affirmed his Christian faith by becoming a member at Belle-Terrace Presbyterian Church, Augusta, Georgia. Climent’s hobbies included golfing, gardening, dancing, listening to jazz, cooking, shooting pool and wine making. He was a faithful member of the Master’s City Golf Association where he served as treasurer for many years. He called himself an “old farm boy” and was well known for his bountiful garden on Vernon Drive. He leaves to cherish his memory, three children; Pamela M. Gardner, Fairfax, Virginia; Climent Reginald Gardner, Charlotte, North Carolina; Dr. Kimberly G Evans (Delvin Evans), Evans, Georgia; and three grandsons, Bryce Evans, Chad Evans, Grant Evans, Evans, Georgia. He is survived by one brother, James Gardner (Bessie Gardner), Conyers, Georgia; one sister-in-law, Mary Jones Tucker; one brother-in-law, James Kenneth Jones (Leo Jones), Missouri City, Texas. He also leaves an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Viewing Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the mortuary.

The remains will lie in state at the church hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Belle-Terrace Presbyterian Church, 2473 Golden Camp Road, Augusta, Georgia 30906. Entombment at Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.
