Obituary For Cordell Clifton Bedford, Sr.

Cordell Clifton Bedford, Sr. of Blytheville, Arkansas was born July 13, 1952 in Blytheville to James L. and Ada Brooks Bedford. Cordell was a 1970 graduate of Blytheville High School and attended Shorter College in Little Rock, Arkansas. Enlisting in the United States Air Force, he served his country honorably. He attended Westside Church of Christ later uniting with Southside Church of Christ and remained there until his death. Cordell was a self-employed carpenter and recently received his certification on welding from Arkansas Northeastern College. Cordell could be seen driving round Blytheville in his one-of-a-kind Ford Crown Victoria with the distinctive “409” emblem on the doors. He was preceded in death by his parents James and Ada Bedford and a brother Leroy. On Sunday, October 16, 2022 Cordell passed away at St. Bernard’s Medical Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas at the age of 70. He leaves to cherish lifelong memories one son Cordell Clifton (Mami) Bedford, Jr. of Kamakura, Japan; one daughter, Tonya Jenkins of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; one brother, Michael Bedford of Blytheville, Arkansas; three sisters, Genette (Joseph) Jones of Cibolo, Texas; Linda (Johnny) Williams and Brenda (Jeffery) McRay all of Blytheville, Arkansas; a longtime friend, Sharon Patton of Blytheville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Taniqua Jenkins, Ervin Washington, Jr., Erionna Washington, Tavell Whitfield, Ta’Kirah Jenkins, Isaac Bedford, and Luca Bedford; one great grandson, Zion Washington, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 12:00 noon at Southside Church of Christ, 1213 South Franklin Street, Blytheville, Arkansas. Brother Jesse Webb will deliver the eulogy with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
