Funeral service will be held at 12 noon EST, Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Greater Beallwood Baptist Church with Pastor Adrian Chester, officiating. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, October 28, 2022 from 12-5 p.m. EST.
Ruby N. Lewis "Big Mama" was born May 15, 1935 in Smith Station, AL to the late Bennie and the late Mattie W. Seldon.
At an early age Ruby confessed her life to Christ and was a dedicated member of Nazareth Baptist Church and later united with Greater Beallwood Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Willie L. Hill as a faithful member.
She was a dedicated worker and retired after 30 years of service at AHP Glove Factory now known as Smith and Nephew.
In the early 50's Ruby Nell and James Thompson were untied in holy matrimony and to this union three beautiful daughters were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Moraline Thompson; siblings, Haywood Harris, Chester Seldon, Lottie Mae Seldon, Annie Ruth Collier and Jannie Mae Ashford.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories two daughters, Dorothy (Alfonza) Barnes and Earnestine (Derek) Hookfin; one brother, Bennie Seldon, Jr. of Smiths Station, AL; five grandchildren, Ryan Barnes of McDough, GA, Jared Barnes, Bryan Williams, Rachel (Quatterio) Standifer and Britteny Williams all of Columbus, GA; seven great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a niece that she considered her own, Jacqueline Edwards; two special cousins, Julia Hudgins and Venera Kingsland and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
