Kathleen Allen

Passed 10/13/2022

On the morning of Thursday, October 13, 2022, in Greensboro, North Carolina. Our beloved Kathleen Allen-Jones entered into eternal rest. Kathleen was born to James and Mary C. Allen, on a hot sunny day on, June 4, 1955, in the City of Newark, NJ. She was the third born of five children, affectionately known as “Kat” and was loved by all who knew her. Kathleen attended the Springfield, NJ, and the Newark, NJ, public schools. Kathy was an avid reader; her favorite author was James Patterson. She was also a talented artist. She could sketch a picture in less than thirty minutes. Kathleen is a retiree from the Retail Industry. John Elijah Jones met Kathleen and they fell in love. In 1973, John and Kathy were joined in holy matrimony. The wedding was held at the home of her parents. Elder Nathaniel Thompson of Emmanuel Church of Christ, Newark, NJ was the officiant. They welcomed two beautiful children; Tiffany Denise Allen and Damien Elijah Jones into their union. In 1996, Kathleen was baptized in the name of Jesus and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. Kathleen always said that the “Hand of the Lord was on her” and He would “always protect her.” In 2001, Kathleen and her daughter Tiffany, along with her grandchildren, made the decision to relocate from New Jersey to Greensboro, NC. Kathleen, the Matriarch, and doting Grandmother traveled between Greensboro, NC, and Atlanta, GA, lovingly, on occasion, to care for her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook. She was known for her smothered oxtails, eggplant parmesan, and her crispy fried whiting. On many weekends the family would get together and prepare a large feast for all to enjoy. Kathleen was both caring and nurturing, whenever family or friends needed her assistance. She was always there to help. Kathy was fun-loving and happy. She was always the life of the party. Everyone that knew her said that she gave them “words of wisdom,” and you could go to her

for anything. Kathy always celebrated her family’s birthdays. She knew everyone’s birthday, and she never failed to shout them out on Facebook. Kathleen had a favorite musician: Bruno Mars/Silk Sonic, so when you think of her put that musician on your playlist. Kathleen, her daughter Tiffany and, Tiffany’s friend Shorny surprised her New Jersey family with a visit on September 23, 2022. We cooked her favorite foods and there was a lot of reminiscing, laughter, picture-taking, and enjoyment. Thank God for the Memories! Kathleen was predeceased in death by her father James Allen, brother James Eric Allen, and husband John Elijah Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children: Tiffany Denise Allen and Damien Elijah Allen, Her mother District Elder Mary C.
