Mr. Curtis Wray, Jr. 75, of 521 Antrum Street Shelby, NC departed this life on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Atrium Health-Cleveland in Shelby. He was born on July 28, 1947 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Curtis Wray, Sr. and the late Ruth Helen Smarr Wray.

Curtis attended Cleveland High School. He was employed with PPG Industries for over 20 years before retirement. Curtis was a quiet reserved person who in his spare time enjoyed fishing and listening to music especially from the 1970’s.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Harris, Gaynelle Moses and Johnnie Mae Wray and three brothers, Land Smarr, Ronnie Gingles and Jerry Gingles.

Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Shannon Finney of Shelby; four sisters, Mary Smarr, Linda Sanders and Shirley Shippey (Isaac) all of Shelby and Sandra Dillard (David) of Gaffney, SC; five brothers, Charles Smarr, L.C. Gingles (Nita), Tony Gingles, Charles Gingles and Greg Gingles (Mary); good friend, J.C. Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 31, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Hopper’s Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM.
