Obituary For Mrs. Barbara Cole Jones Freeman

Augusta, Georgia-BARBARA A. COLE JONES FREEMAN was born on December 30, 1942, fourth of five children born to the late Rufus Cole, Sr. and Daisy M. Cole in Augusta, Georgia. She attended the public school of Lucy C Laney. At an early age she professed her faith in Jesus Christ and joined Macedonia Baptist Church, then Jesus led her to Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

She worked at Georgia Regional Hospital until her retirement. Barbara loved to shop and spending time with her family. Another one of her pass times included shopping for great deals, which she passed on to her daughters and granddaughters. As a result of her generous spirit and pleasant personality, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at her daughter’s home. She was preceded in death by her: formal husband of 50years Ralph Jones Sr., her daughter, Donna Marie Jones, her sisters, Betty Cole and Yvonne Cole Shedrick, a brother, Rufus Cole Jr.

Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her husband Donald J Freeman, Augusta, Georgia; her devoted daughters Denise Jones, Lurline Jones-Smith (Christopher) both from Augusta, Georgia; son Ralph Jones Jr. (Angela) , Charlotte, N.C.; one brother Ervin Cole (Alene), Hephzibah, Georgia; sister-in-law, Jan Zoerheide (William) Madawaska, Maine; brother-in-law, Douglas Freeman, Montana and Caleb Shedrick Jr. Augusta, Georgia; five grandchildren , Terrance Henley Sr. (Jessica), Marquita Jones, Bradon Henly, Dr. Amber D. Smith, Jalen C. Smith all Augusta, Georgia; five great grandchildren, devoted neighbor Rosa Gibbons; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 710 East Cedar Street, Augusta, Georgia 30901.
