Obituary For Annie Burris

Annie Pearl Camp Burris was born in Cherokee County, South Carolina on March 12, 1939 to the late Garrison and Oveda Young Camp. She transitioned to eternal life on Thursday; October 27, 2022 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Gastonia, North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Ruby J. Camp Corry and a brother David Ferguson-Hackett, and nephew Juan Floyd.

Receiving her licenses to practice nursing in 1963, she entered a field of service spanning 40+ years. Working in hospitals in Gaffney, South Carolina and Gastonia NC, the private practice for Dr. James Neal and completing her career in long term patient care in Kings Mountain. Not one to be still in retirement, she also served as secretary at The Peoples Baptist Church in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

She was a super wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many that she met along her life’s journey. A great sense of humor and a caring, loving spirit, accepting Christ at an early age, she unashamedly loved the LORD, attending Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church (Mt Zion Restoration Church), The Peoples Baptist Church and in her latter years, Bethlehem -West (City Church -Fairview). She served Him in word and deed with every opportunity heaven presented her. She will truly be missed by all who have been blessed to know her.

“Ms. Annie” leaves wonderful memories to her daughter, Antwone Denise Camp of the home; her son, Edward Steven Hopper, Sr. (Sheritta), Gastonia, North Carolina; a cherished brother, Horace E. Camp (Lois) of Gastonia, North Carolina; three sisters, Shirley Hackette Hunter and Angelia Hackett of Virginia and Tonya Hackett of Burlington North Carolina; three precious grandchildren, Olivia and Kenzee of the home and Edward, Jr of Austin, TX; nieces Tamara Corry, Erica Jackson (Carlos) of Gastonia, Cicely Camp (Jamie) of Charlotte, North Carolina and a special niece/caregiver Nikita Currence of Gastonia and a host of great nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.

Viewing at the funeral home on Monday from 4 until 7 and on Tuesday from 10 until 11:15 a.m.

Funeral on Tuesday at the funeral home at 12 noon with thirty minute visitation
