He joined Mt. Calvary Baptist Church at the age 12. He graduated from Cleveland High School in Shelby, NC in 1963. After graduation he entered the Air Force for 4 years. After his stint in the Air Force,he worked for Fiber Industries in North Carolina.
Billy then decided to travel west in 1968to Los Angeles, California with his friend Kyen Jenkins. He attended Southwest Junior College. Billy worked for the United States Post Office until he retired.Billy loved his sports more than anything. He was a die-hard L.A. Lakers and Rams Fan to the BONE.
Edward was preceded in deathby his Brothers: James Jacks of Chicago, I.L and Paul Clinton of Shelby, N.C.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his Daughter Markisha D. Bratton of Los Angeles, CA, Marcel D. Bratton who is likea Son of Arizona; his siblings,Sisters; Corine Turner of Buffalo, N.Y., Naomi Brown of Rhode Island and Joanne Bratton Griffin of Newark N.J.Brothers; Alfred and Francine Jacks of Rhode Island, Richard Jacks of Los Angeles, Four Grandchildren Mekhi Noel Mitchell and Blayke Amiyah Semien of Las Vegas, Nevada and Marcel Bratton Jr. and Kymari Bratton of Los Angeles,ThreeAunts; Tryphenas Bratton of Brooklyn, NY, Ann Hammond and Thelma Ross of Rhode Island, One Uncle; Shan Jacks of Brownville, New Jersey. And a Host of Aunts and Uncles in death,Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces, Great Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 12:00 PM at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. The service will be livestreamed starting at 11:45 AM from Enloe Mortuary Facebook page. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. He can be viewed from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM on Friday at the church.
