Obituary For Howard Martin

Howard Martin, 65, of Eden, NC passed October 31, 2022. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC. The family will receive friends, from 1:30 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2022 at Perry Spencer Funeral Home, Eden, NC with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Hamlin Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Howard Jerome Martin of Eden, NC departed this life on October 31, 2022, quietly at his home. He was born June 28, 1957, to the late Willie Jean Murphy and Annie Daye Blackstock.

He worked at Rockingham County Schools for 25 plus years and retired in 2019. He graduated in 1975 from Morehead High School, Eden, NC. Howard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, protector and friend. Howard loved to spoil and spend time with his grandchildren. He also had a love for different car and trucks. He enjoyed listening to his “old Skool” music and playing spades with his Blue Creek family.

He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Meondre Dillard, brother, Ricky Lee Martin and sister, Annie Dejournette.

He leaves to cherish the special memories and footsteps of his life. His loving wife of 34 years; Sharon Martin, his children; Howard, Jr. (Shenicka), Webster Scales, Gladys Martin-Valentine (Rontrel), LaToya Dillard and Courtney Dillard. Grandchildren: Te’vion, Que’Shyne, Kobe, Honor, Havan, Harlen, Havannah, Halo, Zae, Jy’Myre, Rhylen, Ki’ar, Khari, Keshawn. Brothers; George Martin and Victor Boradnax (Tinelle) both of Eden, NC, his twin sister and best friends; Hazel Martin, Rev. Marcella Dickerson, Vickie Paterson (Walter), all of Eden, NC, Hilda Smith of Greensboro, NC, Sophia Diane Moyer of Charlotte, NC. Aunts; Mazie Murphy of Axton, VA and Marjorie Moyer of Eden, NC. brother-in-law; Herbert Scales of Greensboro, NC, sister-in-law; Hazel Dillard of Greensboro, NC, as well as a host of nieces, nephews and special friends, Michael Artis, Wayne Artis, long time neighbor, Jimmy Watkins.
