Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. EST, Friday, November 11, 2022 at Cool Spring Baptist Church, Pittsview, AL with Rev. Fritzthadeus Mack, pastor and Rev. Samuel Davis, eulogist. Interment will follow in the church new cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, November 10, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST. Mr. Jimmy Lee Perry was born on February 21, 1949, in Russell County, AL, unto the late Leroy Perry and Lula Bell (Dixon) Perry.
Jimmy entered into Holy matrimony with his beautiful bride Rosie Mae Alfred in 1969. Upon his death they were blessed in marriage for 53 years. Unto this union three children were born Barbara Ann, Jimmy, Jr. and Tracy Denise, whom they raised in Falls Church, VA.
Jimmy retired from Bekinz Van Lines in 2006 with over 33 years of service as a professional truck driver. Jimmy loved his trucks and enjoyed traveling all over the United States. During his tenure, he traveled to Canada, Mexico and all of the lower 48 states moving military families and civilians. He took extraordinary pride in his work, and in return received numerous awards and accolades for his excellent service.
Jimmy loved life and fought to live well. If you had a chance to sit and talk with him you were sure to have a lively discussion about current events and politics. Jimmy’s friends and family will remember him for his good-natured personality, his sense of humor, and his willingness to always help those in need.
After retiring in 2007, Jimmy and Rosie relocated to Phenix City, AL. Upon his return, he reconnected with his childhood church. Jimmy confessed to Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 2007 at Cool Spring Baptist Church, and dedicated his life to Christ. He was ordained a Deacon and served on the Deacon board supporting the work of church. He truly loved the Lord and found joy and delightful in serving.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Perry; dear eldest sister, Lola (Jeriel) Davis, baby sister Susie Perry and his beloved stepmother, Mattie Pearl Perry.
Jimmy leaves to cherish his memories a faithful and lovely wife, Rosie Mae (Alfred) Perry; children, Barbara Ann (Perry) Fuller, Gaithersburg, MD, Jimmy Lee Perry, Jr., Alexandria, VA and Tracy Denise (Perry) Ford, Carrollton, GA; four grandchildren, Tenora Camille Dunlap, Lauren Alexis Fuller, Deseray Ann Ford and William Nathan Ford; three brothers, Henry (Wanda) Perry, Waldorf, MD, Robert (Janice) Perry, Laurel, MD and Sammy (Jennie) Perry, Camp Springs, MD; three sisters, Lula (John) McClaney, Columbus, GA, Rosie (Walter) Riley, Hedgesville, WV and Pearl (Roddrick) Ross, Odenton, MD; two step-sisters, Willie Lou (Curtis) Miles, Ft. Mitchell, AL and Louise Johnson, Pittsview, AL; one step-brother, James Allen (Anna) Johnson, Sr., Augusta, GA; two aunts, Rosa Perry, Savannah, GA and Rosetta Dixon, Arlington, VA; one sister-in-law, Martha Jean (Yayah) Islam, Columbus, GA, three brothers-in-law, Frank (Emma) Alfred, Seale, AL, Hosie (Marie) Battle, Columbus, GA and Arthur Alfred, Dadeville, AL and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends that Jimmy held dear to his heart.
