Obituary For Mrs. M. Jewel Wilson

Hephzibah, Georgia-Mrs. M. Jewel Wilson entered into rest Monday, November 1, 2022.

Mrs. Minnie Jewel Wilson was born on May 27, 1945, in Atlanta, Georgia to the late Artis and Minnie Willis. Jewel (affectionally called) was the fifth child and the third daughter born to this union. At an early age the Willis family moved to Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from Marshall High School in 1963. Shortly after her graduation the family moved back to Atlanta and joined the Jones Avenue Church of God in Christ. Jewel was a faithful member of the Briley Senior Choir and the hospitality committee. She decided to further her education and earned an Associate’s Degree at Phillips College of Atlanta. Her jobs included working for several prominent law offices, JC Penney and Citizens and Southern Bank (C&S). On October 13, 1989, she was joined in Holy matrimony to Mr. George Wilson and moved to the Augusta area where she enjoyed 32 plus years together. By the leading of the Holy Ghost Jewel joined New Life Worship Center under the leadership of Pastors Claude and Regina Harris. Jewel loved and respected her Pastors and church members and was so happy to talk about the different ministries of the church. She was a faithful mother of the church and worked in various other parts of the ministry. Jewel was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon George Wilson, her oldest sister, Bertha Trice and her brother, Marion Willis. On Tuesday, November 1, 2022, Mother Minnie Jewel Wilson answered the call and went from labor to reward. Those left to hold loving and fond memories are her three sons. Ramon Paden (Pookie), Lafayette Andre Paden (Sam), and Zimbalist Dominic Paden (Bam). Her bonus children, Beverly Mitchell, Gregory Wilson, Timothy Wilson, and Whitney Wilson. Her grandchildren, Jasmine Paden, Ivory Paden, Toree Paden, Ramon Paden (Lil Man), Alana Jarrell, Taylor Jones, Gregory Wilson, Jr., Zachary Mitchell, and Samiyah Holloway (Lil Mama). Her loving siblings, Mamie Balark Alfred Willis, and Joseph Willis (Pauline). A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the mortuary.

The remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Worship Center, 3550 Morgan Road, Hephzibah, Georgia.
