Obituary For Shirley Ann Dalton Gunnings

Shirley Ann Dalton Gunnings, 82, of Huntersville, NC (formerly of Stoneville, NC) passed Wednesday, November 2, 2022. Public viewing will be held from 1:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m., Monday, November 7, 2022, at Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Mary D. Perry Memorial Chapel (Perry-Spencer Funeral Home, Madison) Tuesday, November 8, 2022. Interment will follow in Eden Gardens Cemetery, Eden, NC.

Shirley Ann Dalton Gunnings was born August 8, 1940, to the late Harry and Louise Banks Dalton. She departed this life on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Novant Health Huntersville Medical Center, Huntersville, NC.

She was attended the former Charles R. Drew High School in Madison, NC. Shirley was employed Stoneville Furniture and Unifi, Inc before she became disabled. Before becoming disabled, she loved to cook and took pride in every dish she made and made it a Saturday ritual to attend the Eden Flea Market. She was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Stoneville, NC.

She was married to the late David R. Gunnings for 36 years.

She was also preceded in death by four siblings; Katie Mae Kellam, James Dalton, Harry Dalton, Jr., Dorothy Martin.

Shirley leaves to cherish her memory: her devoted daughter; Kindra G. Lane (Derick) of Huntersville, NC, grandchildren; Tanesha Lane of Huntersville, NC; Jordan Lane of El Paso, TX. Great grandchildren; Braxton Whittington and Bayleigh Whittington of Huntersville, NC, sister; Clara Dalton of Stoneville, NC along with a host of nieces, nephews and relatives.
