Obituary For Willie Emerson

WILLIE LEE EMERSON was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to the union of the late Lela Mae (Glasper) Emerson and the late Elder Lattie More Emerson, Sr.

He received his formal education in the Harrisburg School District. During his working career, he was an employee with Goodwill Industries as a warehouse laborer.

Willie gave his life to Christ in his early teenage years and was a former member of Faith Temple Church of God In Christ. He loved traveling with his father to church and special events.

In his leisure, Willie loved to listen to music, he collected model cars, and action figures, like The Incredible Hawk. He also liked comedy and action movies and pictures of Michael Jackson. He loved sports and was a Philadelphia Eagles fan. In the community, he was involved in activities that include basketball, kick ball and baseball. He loved going to family reunions and being with friends, but most of all he loved Praising God!

Prior to becoming terminally ill, Willie resided with his caregiver Frank Collins for 18 years. On January 4, 2022, Willie was transported to Special Care, Carolyn’s House HPC in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

Willie Lee Emerson, at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 13 days, transitioned peacefully into Glory on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Carolyn’s House HPC in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

In addition to his parents, Willie was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Mae Jackson. Memories will be cherished by his brothers, Lattie Emerson, Jr., Earl Lester Emerson, Freddie Emerson and Clifton Emerson; his sisters, Ruth N. Emerson, Clemieteen Emerson, Kathleen Emerson, Pearl Emerson, Betty Emerson Banks and Beverley Emerson and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Willie's life will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM and burial in Paxtang Cemetery.

COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Emerson family during this difficult time. I was a child when I met Mr. Willie, when he used to run down Fulton and Hamilton St. He was such a joy and blessing to everyone he came in contact with.
