Obituary For Andrew Jackson

Andrew "A]" Jackson IV was born to the late Charlie Milton Jackson, Sr., and Willie Mae Sharpe Jackson. AJ attended Washington Street School. After graduation, he joined the Air Force on June 11, 1965. AJ was a Vietnam veteran.

Once leaving the Air Force, AJ's career began with the Department of Agriculture as a supervisor over tobacco graders. AJ traveled across different states helping in the grading of tobacco. This career also took this Vietnam veteran back to Vietnam to teach them how to grow tobacco. After over forty years with the federal government, AJ retired in 2005. This didn't mean AJ stopped working, but he went back to what he loved doing best: farming. AJ did this until the Lord called him home.

AJ was united in holy matrimony to Deloris Ann Baker Jackson on July 2, 1976. To this union, four children were born. AJ was a faithful Elder and member of Courtland Avenue Church of Christ. He was always a no-nonsense and straight to the point Elder. AJ was an Elder who showed hospitality and kindness to all he met.

On several occasions, he loved spending time with his sisters. in-law who he called the "Baker Girls," Mary Baker, Janie Alexander, and Brenda Tucker, and his brothers-in-law, Larry Baker, Kennis Baker, and Calvin Tucker. AJ is survived by six siblings, Charlie Milton Jackson, Jr., (Josephine), Oglesby Lee Jackson, Sr., (Sarah), Voncell Patricia Jackson Vance, Fannie Marie Gibbs, Laverne Myrtice Diggs (Paul), and Alvin Wayne Jackson (Janice).

AJ also leaves to mourn: his loving and devoted wife of 46 years, Deloris Ann Jackson; daughters, Eugenia Rochelle Wright (Haywood), Tanya Edwards (Thomas), and Angela Jackson; son, Andrew Jamaal Jackson (Courtney); grandchildren, Atavia Dawson (Jermaine), Staff Sergeant Andrew L. Jackson 7 (Andrea), Alexis Wright, Abrianna Jackson, Jacquez Jackson, Amari Wright, Chloe Gross, and Kyleigh Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Jaslyn Dawson and Aiden Jackson.

A celebration of life will be Sunday, November 13, 2022 at 2:00P.M. at Courtland Avenue Church of Christ in Quitman, Georgia. Burial will follow at the New Macedonia Church Cemetery in Morven, Georgia. Visitation is Saturday, 9:00AM - 7:00PM at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home chapel.
