Obituary For Henrietta "Penny" Dunbar Hudson

Henrietta Dunbar Hudson, affectionately known as “Penny”, 98, of Harrisburg, passed away on November 9, 2022 at her daughter’s home.

Penny was born to the union of the late Samuel Dunbar and the late Bessie Blakeney Dunbar in Greensboro, North Carolina. She graduated from Steelton High School in 1942 and was a retired employee of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Harrisburg.

She loved doing crossword puzzles and watching baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves when Chipper Jones was on the team.

Penny was the widow of Lloyd C. Hudson and was also preceded in death by her son, Craig S. Hudson; her four brothers, Alfred Dunbar, Ulysses Dunbar, Theron Dunbar, and Samuel Dunbar. She leaves to celebrate her life her two daughters, Cheryl M. Hudson and Vikki C. Lauer, her two sons, Lloyd C. Hudson, Jr. a/k/a “Shaka” and Alfred D. Hudson (Lucy); her three granddaughters, Kiesha Hudson-Peterson, Erika Lauer Tranguch (Matt) and JiselleDia Hudson; two grandsons, Alfred Hudson, Jr. a/k/a “Hawkie” and Cedrick Hudson (Journ’ee); her nine great-grandchildren; her one great-great-granddaughter and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and aides at Homeland Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Penny in her final days.

Her life will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1439 Market Street, with viewing and visitation 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to Homeland Hospice, 2300 Vartan Way, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17110.

COVID-19 Guidelines will be observed with face masks for all attendees.
