Obituary For Darien James Dixon

Mr. Darien James Dixon, Sr., 56, of Columbus, GA passed Thursday, November 24, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 12 noon EST, Monday, December 5, 2022 in the C.T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation is Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. EST.

Darien James Dixon, Sr., the son of Robert B. Lyles and Clara Mae Dixon of Phenix City was born on September 20, 1966 in Columbus, Georgia.

Darien received his early education at Muscogee Elementary School, then Eddy Middle School and graduated from Baker High School in 1985. He joined the U.S. Army in August 1987. Upon getting out of the military in 1991, he attended Meadows College in Columbus, Georgia and obtained his Associate degree in Accounting. Darien was employed by the Columbus Consolidated Government for 20 years until he retired in June 2022 as a Compliance Officer.

Darien was preceded in death by his mother, Clara Mae Dixon; aunt, Carolyn Williams; two uncles, Henry Dixon and Willie Dixon and one brother, Lou Williams.

He leaves precious memories with his devoted wife, Shajuana M. Dixon; one son, Darien James Dixon, Jr.; two daughters, Dieโ€™dra Simone Dixon and Dโ€™Leaun Yasmeen Dixon; two grandchildren, Darien James Dixon III and Jeremiah Arthur Lee Dixon; three sisters, Constance Dixon, Voynow Green and Sonia Lyles; five brothers, Randy Dixon, Sr. (Sandra), Stanley Dixon (Trena), Derwin Dixon (Chantel), Gregory Jenkins (Tanya) and Adrian Lyles (Tracy); one aunt, Eloise Epps (Aunt Bet); one uncle: Frankie L. Dixon (Geraldine) and a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

I will always remember the love that Mr. Dixon showed to so many people. I will never forget times that we went Evangelizing. Even giving advice to the single women on his team. He cared. He loved. He taughted. He listened. He was a man of action. Family you can be very proud of the legacy he left behind. I will always remember the things that he taught me.
