My condolences to the family. Ms. Shelia was truly one of the best humans I've ever met or worked with. "Rev" was my bus driver when I was in high school; so I've known Ms. Shelia since I came to New Bern in 1992. I came back to work at New Bern High in 1999 and had a chance to work alongside "Rev" and Ms. Shelia as a teacher. She was always willing to drive my field trips and took good care of some my students in her role as a teacher assistant. She even performed in a Black History program we put together (she could sing so well!) My heart was broken to hear of her passing. She can now rejoin her beloved "Rev" in eternal glory. Thanks for everything Ms. Shelia! May you rest in peace. - Dr. Lionel Kato, NBHS Class of 94 ❤️

Hello Shelia, I was reading the beautiful and loving tributes in your honor. I saw mine and froze, but I heard you laughing and saw a huge smile on your face. Thank you my Sister for having a sense of humor, and letting me know it was okay. " You were SINGING in the choir" I love you Shelia and thank you for your love and friendship.

Spears, Butler and Johnson families, I wish to express my heartfelt sympathy and hope that the kind words of your family and friends will make this difficult time a bit easier to bear. Sheila was a devoted and dedicated church worker. I remember her from our teenage years doing what she loved until her health failed and that was, working in the church and church conferences. Sheila was loved by many and will be missed by all. Rest In Peace My Friend & My Sister In Christ. Most Sincerely, Wilma S. Moore, Kinston NC

I will never forget Sheila traveling to Myrtle Beach with Glenda, my sister, to see Russell, my husband, who was in the hospital. We were vacationing with my siblings who left a week before. It was like a ray of sunshine to see Glenda and Sheila come through the door. Sheila would drive anywhere to be supportive. She will always be remembered and LOVED. (bonnie jenkins allen)

We know that Sheila's place in this world has been removed from us, but the effect that she had on the lives of those of us who knew her is still within us. She not only let her "Light" shine, but she poured good into the lives of others. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18v teaches us that we can find comfort in knowing that our loved ones who die in Christ will be resurrected, and we will enjoy them again.

We want to extend our sympathy to the entire family and friends of "Miss Sheila". She meant so much to not only our family but also to countless students, faculty, and staff in the Craven County School System for so many years! Her genuine affection and caring for her colleagues as well as those in her charge (either on a bus, in a classroom, or in a school media center) were evident in countless examples. We were better people for having been lucky enough to work with Sheila, and more important, to count her as a friend. May your fond memories of her and knowing that she is now with "The Rev." sustain you in this time of sorrow. May you continue to find comfort and strength in Our Lord and His love. Terry and Toni Fuhrman and Tori McGee
