Mrs. Cynthia B. Houser, 57, Gadsden, formally of Selma, Alabama, passed away Saturday, November 26,2022. The Obituary My Story
I have fought a good fight, I have kept the faith, I have finished by course.
“A TIME TO REMEMBER”
To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1) “A TIME TO BE BORN”
On March 17, 1965, God saw fit to bless Robert Lee and Viney Belle Blake. with a sweet baby girl named Cynthia Deneen, affectionately known to family and friends as “Cynt.”
“A TIME TO PLANT”
I knew that God was the source of being and the strength of my life. Knowing these things at an early age, my feet were planted on a solid rock in Pleasant Hill, Alabama when I gave my life to God and united with the Bethel Baptist Church. As I grew in the knowledge of Christ, I united with the Town Creek Baptist Church, which later became The Potter’s Place Church, where I remained a member until God called me home. Just as I was deeply rooted in Christ and Kingdom service, I was also rooted in education and the ministry of service. My educational journey took me from Tipton Elementary/Junior High School to Southside High School, where I graduated in 1983. During my time at both schools, I excelled in academics and music...(I could hold my own on the trumpet). Upon graduation from high school, I worked for a while then I made the journey to further my education and make a career change at George C. Wallace Community College (Selma) where I became a Licensed Practical Nurse. After years of serving as a nurse, I made another career change and became a Pharmacy Technician and Manager. My final stop took me to the Office of Dr. Oluwole Akisanya, M.D. , where I served as his Office Coordinator. Rooted in Christ and education, I was also rooted in family. I was united in the bonds of Holy Matrimony to my best friend, Reginald Houser, oh how I loved him.
“A TIME TO LAUGH”
Oh, what a joyous occasion, My husband, Reginald, entered into our marriage with 2 children,Brittney and Reginald, II, and I entered with 1, my “Sunshine”, Ebony Sharda. We blended our lives and families to become the unit that God would have it to be. My beloved parents, Robert Lee and Viney Blake along with 3 siblings Marianne, Melvin, and William precede me in death. I leave on Earth to celebrate my life, precious memories, and sweet spirit; my loving and devoted husband, Reginald Houser; two (2) daughters: Ebony Blake of Birmingham, AL, who was my personal nurse, and Brittney Houser of Selma, AL; one (1) son: Reginald Houser, II of Selma, AL; two (2) granddaughters: Dream and Ava of Selma, AL; one (1) grandson: Khyson of Tuscaloosa, AL; a loving, supportive and devoted sister: Irma Jean Moore and a loving and devoted brother: Pastor Larry (Clara) of Selma, AL. I definitely cannot forget my sister-in-love, Gloria Blakes of Richland, MS and my broth- er-in-love, George Moore, who took flight shortly` after I did. Then God saw fit to give me four addi- tional women who were my sisters, not by birth but in love, my niece, Veronica Blake-Posley; my cousin,
Shelia Green; and my childhood friends, Phyllis Bonner and Carolyn Grant Steele. I definitely cannot forget my Houser family: two (2) sisters-in-love: Carolyn (James) Ford and Marie (Arthur) Brown, both of Selma, AL. Finally, I thank God for the 3 generations of nieces, nephews, who referred to me as “Tee- Tee,” and the host cousins and friends.
