Obituary For Pearl L. Burrell

Pearl Lee Burrell, 96, of Henrico, quietly slipped away on November 27, 2022 at Hanover Rehabilitation Center in Mechanicsville, Virginia, after a sudden illness. She was born July 17, 1926. Pearl was educated in the public schools of New Kent. She was baptized at an early age. After some years, she joined St. Paul's Baptist Church where she faithfully attended until her health no longer permitted her to. She was a woman of faith who held on to GOD's unchanging hand. Pearl had a heart of gold and was truly a remarkable woman. She cherished her friendships and was loved and well thought of by her family and friends to include her VCU nurses. Although she was getting tired, she had a positive attitude and a smile for all who remembered her with their prayers, phone calls and visits. Her love, gentleness and generosity will be forever in our hearts. Pearl was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Rufus Burrell, Jr., son, Willie A. Burrell, great grandson, DeAndre Davis, four brothers, James Lewis, Willie, Jr., John P. Washington and Merle Taylor. She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted daughter, L. Diane Burrell; two sons, Lloyd O. Burrell (Maria) and Thomas R. Burrell (Nadine); nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, daughter-in-law, Cynthia Burrell; sister-in-law, Rose Washington of Trenton, New Jersey; treasured friends and devoted cousin, Edna Conway as well as extended family, Lynn Dowdy and Gail Ebersole. Pearl made up for broken part of myself, she would never let me be further down than I could bring myself back to a standing position, with her given source of words and God's hand of strengthening, wisdom. I could call on her and hear her strong voice and perk right up , saying to myself if she can , I surely will. I will always hear her saying Shirley I know how you feel but baby don't let it get the best of you, you have to be strong, I love you baby!!
