Obituary For Grace W. Flowers

Grace Wynn Flowers, 95, of Richmond, completed her journey on November 27 2022. She was born in Dover, Delaware to the late George W. Wynn, Sr. and Charlotte Bell Wynn. She graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School as a proud "Mighty Green Dragon." Shortly thereafter she began her years working at F. W. Woolworth's lunch counter. Grace grew up in Providence Park and became a member of Providence Park Baptist Church at a young age. She was a dedicated member of the Ladies Usher Board for many years. She also served on the kitchen ministry and assisted Mrs. Phyllis Dance in the preparation of the Woodson Hall for various repast functions. Her outgoing personality and fast talking style made her the life of every gathering. Although she had lifelong friends, the center of her joy was always her family. Every Sunday the family gathered around her dining room table for Sunday dinner and the neighbors arrived shortly thereafter for lively games of Bid Whist or Pokeno sprinkled with lots of laughter and good times. Grace was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin A. Flowers, Sr.; brother, George W. Wynn, Jr. and granddaughter, Tracy Evans. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Alvin, Jr. (Gloria); two daughters, Charlotte and Marva (Forris); six grandchildren, Paul, Sr. (Monique), Charles (Carletta), Tameka (Benjamin, Jr.) Lawrence, Lamont (Tiffany) and Monet (Nandi); nine great grandchildren, Crystal, Cierra, Benjamin III, Paul, Jr., Marchele, Deion, Andre, Charles II and Erica; two great-great grandchildren, Jeremiah and Kensly; two nieces, Melba (William) and Sherrilyn Wynn; a host of other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Scott's Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd. where viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2022.
