Deaconess Mary Frances Shelton Jones, was born November 14, 1930, in Quitman, Georgia to Sylvia Aikens Shelton and Cason Shelton, Sr.

Deaconess Jones attended school in Brooks County, Georgia. She was employed by Quitman Manufacturing Company for 31 years. After retirement, she worked with Adult Protective Services assisting Clients with their homecare.

In 1948, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Mr. Willie James Jones, Sr. of Quitman, Georgia.

She was a member of The House of God Church, Keith Dominion Quitman, Georgia from birth. In the early eighties Deaconess Jones was appointed Chairperson of Deacon Board and served faithfully for many years until her health declined. She was very active as Sunday School Superintendent, in the choir, Pastor’s Aide Club, and was a part of The Missionary Outreach Society. In 2011, Deaconess Jones wrote and recorded 3 songs, “Never Alone”, “Let Us Run To Jesus” , and “A Yodel”. She was very faithful in her services both Local, State, and National until her health would not allow her to travel as much. A beautiful smile and pleasant attitude was her trademark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Willie James Jones Sr.; A son, Horace Lee Jones; Her mother, Sylvia Aikens Shelton; One brother, Cason Shelton, Jr. Mrs. Jones leaves to cherish her memories, five sons, Willie James Jones, Jr. (Joyce) of Leavenworth, KS, Cecil L. Jones (Atleatha), of Quitman, GA, Reginald E. Jones (Kathy), of Valdosta, GA, Frederick S. Jones (Angela), of Dallas, TX., Yewston H. Jones, of Quitman, GA. Two daughters, Linda J. Johnson, of Quitman, GA., Francena Richardson (Robert), of Valdosta, GA. One brother, Willie Mack Shelton of Chicago, IL. 19 Grandchildren; 50 Great Grandchildren; 7 Great-Great Grandchildren; and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends. Special friends, Mrs. Mary Alice Adams, Mrs. Gwendolyn Nixon, Elder Erma Peak, and Dr. Margaret Williams.

A celebration of life will be Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 3PM at Zion Temple Church with Elder Gloria Moorw Wright, eulogist. Burial will follow in North End Cemetery.
