Mr. Leroy Mayfield passed on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 12:00 Noon until 7:00 P.M. at Israel Temple CME Church of Jackson, GA Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2022 at 12:30 P.M. at the Israel Temple CME Church at 285 E 1st Street Jackson, GA Trice Funeral Home of Barnesville is in charge of all professional services. Please keep the Mayfield family in prayer. Life Reflections Leroy was born to the late Mr. George Mayfield, Jr. & Ms. Vera Webb on June 10, 1942 in Cleveland, OH. He is preceded in death by two daughters, Lettice & Lesile Mayfield; his sister, Yvonne Webb; his stepmother, Bertha Louise Mayfield; and one brother, Dexter Mayfield. Leroy joined Israel Temple C.M.E. after moving to Jackson, GA with his father and served faithfully until his health began to decline. He enjoyed Sunday School and Sunday worship services and always greeted everyone with a smile. He served with love and dedication as a member of the Usher Board and as the Treasurer of the Finance Committee. Leroy received his education in the Butts County School System and he graduated with the class of 1959 from Henderson High School. While attending Henderson High School , he was the 1st trumpeter in the band. Later in life he married the former, Carolyn Goodrum, on January 24, 1975. Together, they have three children, Charlene, La Tasha, and Christopher (CJ). He worked at General Motors in Doraville, GA for over 37 years before retiring in 2002. He coached a men’s baseball team named The Jackson A’s and a women’s softball team named The Hawkettes for several years. He was also a referee at the recreation department in Jackson for many years. His hobbies included: watching old western tv shows, playing pinochle with his brothers, and rooting against any Atlanta sports team. He helped to raise many of his nieces and nephews and treated them as his own; Annette Head, Jacqueline Roberts, TaShawn Webbm and Tyrone Talley. He leaves to cherish and honor his memories: his loving wife, Carolyn Mayfield: tow daughters, Charlene Mayfield of Jackson, GA and La Tasha Mayfield of Lithonia, GA; one son, Christopher (CJ) Mayfield of Jackson, GA; five grandchildren, Dajuan Watts, Jer’Merian Mayfield. Sh’London Mayfield, Nailah Mayfield, and Kobe Mayfield all of Jackson, GA;one great-granddaughter, Chrislyn watts of Jackson, GA; four brothers: Anthony Mayfield (June) of Sumter, Sc. Gary Mayfield (Mozal) of Jackson, GA Percy Mayfield of Warner Robins, GA, Carlton Mayfield (Neysa) of Locust Grove, GA; two brothers-in-law; Tommy Joe Goodrum (Katherine), Willie Joe Goodrum ( Ida) all of Jackson, GA; five sisters-in-law: Emma Ruth Smith, Dianne Blandenburg, Cherry Goodrum, DeEtta Miller-Mayfield all of Jackson, GA: Patricia Calhoun of Griffin, GA; two special cousins: Grace Baker and Judy Baker both of Cleveland, OH; a special friend, Mr. Alben Watts; a Goddaughter, Cynthia King; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
