He was born on February 16, 1968 to Ange Mae Jenkins and the late Elias “Bro” Jenkins, in Columbus, GA. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1987 where he was a hard hitting running back on the varsity football team. He also ran track, however, his tenacity on the football field landed him a football scholarship to Knoxville College, Knoxville, TN but he was injured during his freshman year.
After football was no longer an option, he fell in love with the Big Rigs. He loved driving the 18-Wheeler, a skill he learned from his late father. His other love was cooking and that skill he learned from his mother at an early age. He was considered “sous chef” at the Jenkin’s household and in the family. Upon his most recent return to Columbus, he would cook meals on Sundays to share with his mother who resides at Orchard View Nursing Facility. His last work assignment was a certified forklift driver at Daechang Seat Corp, Phenix City, AL. Many were touched by his kind heart, delicious meals and loving spirit.
He leaves to cherish unforgettable memories his loving mother, Ange Mae Jenkins, Columbus, GA; two sons, Desmond Alexander, Columbus, GA, and Cordell Jones; one grand daughter, Amari Robinson, Columbus, GA; one brother Edward F. Jenkins Columbus, GA; several special cousins, a loving friend, Marion Hood, Boston, MA and a host of other relatives and friends.
